In order to expedite data entry or retrieval in PUMAdb, you can save default values for the fields in certain forms.
If you typically enter the same data each time in a particular form, you can instead enter it once, save it, and it will be
there each time you return to the form. Currently, you can save defaults on the following forms:
Experiment and Result Entry
Advanced Search
Gene Selection and Annotation
Gene Filtering
Defaults are stored in the database (not in a cookie) which means you can access your defaults from any computer.
On certain forms they are context specific. For example, on the Gene Selection and Annotation page, defaults are
saved on a per-organism basis.
When you see the following button on a page
clicking it will let you save some or all of the values you entered or selected on the form
as your defaults. Put your cursor over the question mark
for more information as shown in the example below. If not all fields can be saved as defaults,
an orange box will be displayed around the fields that can.
In the example above you can see that annotations are specific to Sacchromyces cerevisiae. You
can save different defaults for other organisms.
After you save your defaults, or when you first come to a page for you which you have saved
them, this icon is shown: but if you make
changes the Save button will take its place.
If you want to remove the defaults you've saved for a form, go to the Manage My Defaults
page where you can select the defaults to replaced with the PUMA defaults, if applicable.
